April 9, 2018 — Former UN Secretary General Mr. Ban Ki-moon was elected as Chairman of Boao Forum for Asia replacing Japan's Mr. Yasuo Fukuda on April 9, 2018. Mr. Ban Ki-moon is a South Korean diplomat and was the eighth Secretary-General of United Nations from January 2007 to December 2016.
April 10, 2018 — Mr. Rajesh Ranjan was appointed as Director General of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on April 10, 2018. He has been appointed as the chief of the CISF till November 30, 2020, i.e. the date of his superannuation. The post was lving vacant after incumbent Mr. O.P. Singh took over as Director General of the Uttar Pradesh Police in January 2018.
April 12, 2018 — The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched IRNSS-1I navigation satellite from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh on April 12, 2018. The satellite was launched aboard PSLV-C41 (height of 44.4 metres and weight of 321 tonnes) and after the normal lift-off was successfully placed in the designated orbit. The IRNSS-1I is overall the eighth satellite to join ISRO's NavIC navigation satellite constellation. It replaced IRNSS-1A, the first of seven navigation satellites of IRNSS series that was rendered ineffective after its three rubidium atomic clocks failed. IRNSS-1I was made by Bengaluru-based Alpha Design Technologies in collaboration with ISRO.
April 19, 2018 — Mr. Miguel Diaz-Canel was sworn in as President of Cuba to replace Mr. Raul Castro by the National Assembly on April 19, 2018.
April 20, 2018 — Mr. jim Bridenstine was appointed by the US Senate as the Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the US space agency on April 20, 2018. Mr. Bridenstine becomes the 13th Chief of NASA.

April 27, 2018 — North Korean leader Mr. Kim Jong-un crossed the border that separates the two Koreas at the demilitarised zone (DMZ) to enter South Korea on April 27, 2018, becoming the first North Korean leader to step into the South Korean territory since 1953. North Korean leader Mr. Kim jong-un and South Korean President Mr. Moon Jae-in on April 27, 2018 signed a landmark peace agreement in Panmunj eom village in South Korea called the 'Panmunjeom Declaration' for the "complete denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula". The declaration was signed during the Inter-Korean Summit at the 'Peace House' at Panmunjeom between the two leaders. The two leaders pledged a 'new era of peace' through the joint declaration.
