Answer any three questions.

1. Analyse the sources of unity in Indian society in the midst of diversity.

2. Examine the dialectical approach to the study of Indian society.

3. In the modern industrial society, family is losing its traditional functions. Examine with reference to this statement whether family has a future.

4. Assess the significance of the concept of dominant caste in understanding Indian society.

5. Identify the weaker sections in India. Has the educational system in India benefited them on equal terms with the upper classes ? Argue your case.

Group B

Answer any two questions.

6. What are the major issues of women's movement in India in the post-independence period ? How do they differ from those in the pre-independence period ?

7. What is population explosion ? Discuss the economic and social factors that account for high birth rate in India.

8. Examine the nature of drug addiction as a social problem. What measures can be taken to check its growth?
