After these mergers India will have 12 public sector banks—(1) State Bank of India, (2) Bank of Baroda, (3) Punjab National Bank, (4) Canara Bank, (5) Union Bank of India, (6) Indian Bank, (7) Bank of India, (8) Central Bank of India, (9) Indian Overseas Bank, (10) UCO Bank, (11) Bank of Maharashtra, and (12) Punjab and Sind Bank.
The four Mergers are: Punjab National Bank + Oriental Bank of India + United Bank of India; Canara Bank + Syndicate Bank; Union Bank + Andhra Bank + Corporation Bank; and Indian Bank + Allahabad Bank.
